Beaches Jazz Festival
The Beaches Jazz Festival began in 1989 and occurs at the end of July each year in the Beach district in Toronto.
In early 2006, the area in Toronto known as The Beaches officially changed their name to The Beach and this jazz festival takes place in the heart of this area. The Beach is located on Queen Street East and is accessible by streetcar. The Beaches International Jazz Festival draws musicians from throughout Canada and from around the world.
The festival is free to attend so you can not only check out the festival but also one of the more well-known areas in Toronto in the Beach. The festival gets sponsorship from a number of corporations and sources so you can check it out without any cost to you. The fact that the festival occurs in the middle of summer is even better since all the Beach restaurant patios are open.
The festival offers a number of vendors as well so you can buy some souvenirs and grab a bite to eat at the exact same time. On this page, you'll find a number of pictures I took in July 2006 when my wife and I attended the festival on the final day. We hung around the festival for a few hours, listened to the music and checked out the vendors. It's very busy, with lots of people walking around and many more sitting on lawn chairs near the stage, but it's still pretty easy to make your way around without too much trouble.
