They are sometimes compared to Southwest Airlines in the US in terms of their business model. Here in Canada, I know of many people who strictly fly with WestJet and try to avoid using other airlines whenever possible. They have a solid reputation for excellent customer service. Among other things, they have a good reputation for on-time performance and ensuring that flights arrive at the time they are scheduled to. Their aircrafts are relatively new unlike some airlines you may have flown on recently. I’ve experienced flying on discount airlines masquerading as flag carriers and they were a big disappointment but I’ve found WestJet aircraft to be well-maintained and new-looking. Plus, their seats are leather! All of their Boeing 737s have leather seats and you just can’t beat that! If you collect Air Miles, your flights earn points so that’s a nice bonus as well. Again, a cheap flight to Toronto doesn't mean you necessarily have to go cheap on service and WestJet is proof that you can offer both. WestJet flies out of many major Canadian destinations and is flying out of an increasing number of US cities as well so as they grow, I’m sure more and more Americans will experience them and I’m sure they’ll see the difference. |
