The Hockey Hall of Fame (HHOF)
The Hockey Hall of Fame (HHOF) is located in downtown Toronto at 30 Yonge Street at the corner of Yonge Street and Front Street in BCE Place on the concourse level. Part of the HHOF is actually located in the historic and restored Bank of Montreal Building.
Previously the HHOF was located in the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) grounds and was officially opened on August 26, 1961. The HHOF moved to its current location in 1993 and opened on June 18 of that year. I made my first visit to the “new” HHOF later that year. The HHOF has plenty of interactive stuff and one of the great attractions is the replica of the Montreal Canadiens dressing room in the 1990s. The room has been recreated down to every last detail including the nameplates of the players on their stalls along with portraits of the some of their best players.
I also really love the TSN/RDS Broadcast Zone. TSN is The Sports Network and RDS is the French Canadian version of Canada’s first national sports channel, similar to ESPN in the US. The TSN/RDS Broadcast Zone enables fans to get an up close look at how hockey broadcasting has evolved over time and you can even tape your own comments in the It’s Your Call exhibit for posterity’s sake. One of the other great things about the HHOF is that it’s centrally located right in downtown Toronto only a short walk from Union Station and easily accessible from there by foot. For more information including hours of operation, location and admissions prices, check out the Hockey Fall of Fame website.
