Looking For A Job In Toronto? Don't Forget The Surrounding Areas
Looking for a job in Toronto?
Remember, if you’re looking for a job in Toronto and aren’t particular about working in downtown Toronto specifically, you might also consider jobs in surrounding cities such as Mississauga, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham among others. These cities have large populations and many employers. Mississauga is the 7th largest city in Canada with a population of 612,925 (2001 census) and is home to the head offices of many companies while Markham (population 208,615) is a large IT hub with many major information technology firms located here. Each of these cities are considered to be ones where you can raise a family too. I grew up just north of Mississauga in the city of Brampton which you might also consider for employment. Among other things, Brampton is the home to a large Daimler Chrysler plant and is also the world headquarters of telecom giant Nortel.
Also, if you hear the names Etobicoke, Scarborough or North York, these are simply the names of cities that used to exist but are now considered part of Toronto. Often, you’ll hear people refer to these city names as a point of reference but they are all part of the City of Toronto. Etobicoke is west of downtown Toronto, Scarborough is east of the downtown core and North York – not surprisingly – is north. Ready to search for some Toronto job opportunities? Toronto Job Shop is a great resource to learn about local jobs specifically in the city of Toronto.
