The Royal Ontario Museum
The Royal Ontario Museum or ROM is situated in midtown Toronto on 100 Queen’s Park at the southwest corner of Bloor Street West and Queen’s Park.
For the record, Queen’s Park houses the provincial legislature for the Province of Ontario so this is where all the elected politicians for our province work and meet. The ROM has undergone a great deal of construction and in 2006 received a new façade. There are plenty of great changes at the ROM and the exhibits are always changing. For a look at what exhibits are showing at the ROM at any given time, check out the ROM Exhibits page on their website. In terms of getting to the ROM, here are some options: By car: The Royal Ontario Museum is located right at the corner of Bloor Street West and Queen’s Park which is a few blocks west of the Yonge Street and Bloor Street intersection. You can access the ROM from either the Queen Elizabeth Way highway by taking the Spadina Avenue exit and proceeding north on Spadina until you reach Bloor Street. Turn right and proceed east on Bloor until you reach Avenue Road/Queen’s Park and you’ll see the Museum. If you’re taking Highway 401, take Avenue Road south until you reach Bloor Street West. You can also take the Don Valley Parkway south until you get to the Bloor Street West ramp and then proceed west along Avenue Road. You can’t miss the ROM! Paid parking is available. Check out the Tip section below for information on getting a discounted parking ticket. By subway: The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) was kind enough to build a subway station near the ROM known as Museum on the Yonge-University subway line. How convenient! The St. George subway station is also fairly close to the ROM. The TTC also provides a bus – Avenue Road #5 South – to help you arrive at the ROM. For more information, visit the Toronto Transit Commission website. For more information on what’s going on at the ROM at any given time, visit the Royal Ontario Museum website. Tip: ROM Friday Nights offers adults the ability to enter the Museum for a discounted price of $5 from 4:30pm – 9:30pm each Friday. Also, you can even get a discounted parking price by visiting the Admissions Desk and requesting a parking voucher. They can provide information regarding which parking lot to use. Finally, when you're at the ROM you're only steps away from the most expensive shopping area in Toronto on Bloor Street West in the Yorkville district. Maybe you want to pick up some nice clothes or shoes or some Cuban cigars while you're in town...
