Top Ten Things To Do In Toronto

1. Take a walk in High Park: High Park is Toronto’s largest park and home to thousands of rare species of plant including St. John’s Wort and Woodland Fearn. If nature trails and greenhouses are not your thing, the park is also home to an ice rink and baseball diamonds which get very popular during the baseball season.
2. Go up the CN Tower: The CN Tower is Toronto’s most popular tourist attraction and is an ideal starting point to any trip to the city. It is the second tallest free standing structure on land in the world and offers 360 degree views of city. On a good day you can see as far as the Niagara Falls.
3. Go to the Royal Ontario Museum: The Royal Ontario museum is one of the world’s leading museums on natural history and world cultures and holds a little something for everyone including a granite bust of Cleopatra which is considered the closest likeness found to date and the bone’s of Canada’s largest dinosaur- the Branosaurus.
4. Go shopping in Kensington Market: Packed with a whole host of colourful corner fruit stands, pubs and small shops, Kensington Market is a vibrant trading place where you can shop until you drop. Every month the market’s narrow streets play host to a Sunday afternoon festival celebrating the diversity of the city with drums and, bands and live music. An event not to be missed if you are still in town.
5. Visit the Hockey Hall of Fame: No trip to Canada would be complete without a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Hockey is as important to Canadians as soccer is to the English and American Football is to Americans. The museum houses trophies and memorabilia from throughout the years and includes several interactive exhibits to keep interest levels high. Combine the visit with a trip to the Ice Hockey at the Ricoh Coliseum where both Toronto’s top teams play- the Toronto Marlies and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
6. Go to the Bata Shoe Museum: Fashion meets art history at The Bata Shoe Museum which is home to more than 10,000 pedi-artefacts from across the globe. Among the exhibits currently on display are Elton John’s loafers and a pair of aboriginal Canadian polar boats.
7. Explore Toronto Market Garden: Located on the ever busy Westharbour Front, the Toronto market Garden provides a truly unique audiovisual experience. Visitors are accompanied by classical music as they stroll through conifers shaped like treble clefs and can listen to free concerts from June through to September in its grass stepped amphitheatre.
8. Investigate Toronto Police Museum: The Toronto Police Museum is a museum like no other. In addition to exhibits showing you the evolution of the police force during the course of its 175 year history, the museum gives you the opportunity to try your hand at being a detective for the day by tracing a murderer’s DNA from a cigarette butt.
9. Visit Casa Loma: Casa Loma is Toronto’s own majestic castle. Here you step back in time as you explore its elegantly decorated suites, secret passage ways and 800 foot long underground tunnel. The castle also has beautiful gardens which are also open to the public from May to October.
10. Have a laugh at Second City: Second City is Toronto’s premier comedy venue. The birth place of SCTV and Who’s line is it anyway?, the comedy clubs provides the very best in sketch, stand up and improvised comedy. Famous Alumni include John Candy and International Man of Mystery Mike Myers.
