The Toronto Zoo
The Toronto Zoo is located in the east side of Toronto in Scarborough on Meadowvale Road. It’s the premier zoo in Canada and is well known for being not only for its great educational resources but also a great conservation activities too.
The Toronto Zoo opened in 1974 but its roots go all the way back to 1888 when the Riverdale Zoo was first opened. It’s a great place to visit for both kids and adults although there are certainly many great activities especially for the younger visitors such as the Zellers Discovery Zone which includes the Kids Zoo and Splash Island water playground. You can also rent strollers if the little ones don't feel like walking around all day, too. Getting there can be accomplished in a number of ways: By car: Take Highway 401 to Meadowvale Road which is Exit 389. Parking costs $8 for each vehicle. By bus: The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) operates both the 86A and 85 bus routes that can take you to the Zoo. Check out the TTC website for more information. By train: Government of Ontario Transit (GO Transit) operates near the Zoo at their Rouge Hill GO station. Check out the GO Transit website for more information.
